Hey friends! You may notice this post is a little different. I’m turning on premium subscriptions and this is the first premium post! My original intention in setting up this program on Substack was to provide my supporters with high quality training and reference material for Qigong practice and creative consciousness work. This post is the beginning of that process! For those of you who are supporters, thank you! If you’re not yet a supporter, consider this a little nudge in that direction.
Hey all, I have a new Qigong technique for you.
It is called Turning Head. It might not look like much, but it’s actually quite nice.
Below is a clip that demonstrates how to do it.
If you need a refresher on how to use this technique in a Qigong practice, check out this post, it goes through the basic Qigong routine.
Once you remember the basic 5 phase routine, you can use Turning Head in the same place that you would use Lifting the Sky, ie phase 2.
Qigong techniques might not be very special movements. This might be funny to hear, since this is an ancient tradition of movement that is supposed to have something special about it. And it’s true, there is something special, but what exactly? I couldn’t tell you.
What I can tell you is that they feel like something. And that’s a feeling that I won’t argue about. The magic of movement is there. It just isn’t always in the form. The form can help you, but you have to do some active feeling to really get the best results.
To the point: Turning Head has been one of my favorite techniques because of how it feels. Everyone knows that rolling your neck can feel great. But have you ever done it… Qigong style? Once you try it, you may find something very special indeed. Personally, I like using this technique all the time.
Turning Head is also a technique that is easy to add into a routine. Meaning if you want to do Turning Head and Lifting the Sky as part of your routine, it works well, even on a tight schedule. A little bit goes a long way with this one. I find myself including it in my routines all the time.
